Hello every one!!! Winter is gone and summer is in. It’s time to store away the cold creams and start using a good sun block. So I thought of reviewing a sunscreen with SPF 40.
This is how the cap looks after 3-4 days of usage
I have tried a lot of sun blocks but none seemed to be perfect. Either it was too oily or the SPF content is too low. I thought sunscreen were sticky, oily and tends to make your skin heavy but this product proved everything wrong. I came across this product in fashion and you. The cream looks a lot like foundation but the texture is not at all creamy. Instead it’s a lot like water based products. It feels a bit rough when you apply it though. As soon as you apply the product it is absorbed by your skin making your skin non-greasy unlike most other sun block. It has a very mild smell, very similar to the smell of lacto calamine. It can be used on face as well. You can even apply it as a makeup base as it does mattifies the skin. It provides 3 benefits namely sun protection, skin lightening and mattifying. I totally love this product because it doesn’t make my skin greasy and sweaty when I step out in the sun. It has PA+++ i.e. it gives maximum protection from sun not only from the UVA rays but also from the UVB rays.the skin lightening thing didn’t work for me though. I did not find my skin fairer even after regular application of the product for 2 weeks!!! It’s made to suit all skin types.
One drawback with this product is that it has to be applied frequently. So for maximum benefit it is better to keep it in your handbag and apply it every 3-4 hours. Even the packaging is not very attractive. It’s like any other lotus product. I wish lotus changes their packaging. It’s the same for every product they have. The cap is flimsy and the opening of the cap is quite big. Every time you take some product out you have to wipe of the extra product from the cap or else the product sticks to the caps. I checked the ingredients and it contains paraben though. So for those who don’t like to have methyl paraben in their product you will have to avoid it. The product is a bit runny. The quantity required is a lot. Mine’s won’t even last a month.
- Water based formula
- SPF content is quite high. Ideal for Indian summer
- The price is affordable.
- Leaves the skin non oily
- Gives maximum protection from the sun.
- Easily available.
- Offers three benefits in one product.
- Doesn’t make the skin stretchy after applying.
- Has to be applied frequently.
- Packaging is not attractive.
- The cap is very flimsy. It may break very easily
- Contains methyl paraben.
- The product is runny.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! There are other sun blocks available from lotus with higher SPF. You can try those as well if you are more exposed to sun. I am fine with SPF 40 as I don’t really have to stay in sun for longer period.
Overall Rating:4/5
