I got this tube from my cousin. She purchased Recharge & Adjust. Recharge was looking somewhat Orangy on my complexion (NC 35/37/40) so I took Adjust from her which she was not using much (She is NC44).
It comes in a glossy black tube packaging with a thin nozzle to squeeze out the product. The nozzle ensures to squeeze out the limited amount slimming down the chances of product wastage. Available in four tints:
Illuminate: adds radiance to a sallow complexion;
Neutralize calms a red, blotchy complexion;
Adjust brightens dull skin; and
Recharge adds a little “boost” to any dull complexion.
I have shade Adjust with me which is a Light natural peach shade & is meant for brightening the dull lifeless skin. It does exactly the same. It gets completely blends into the skin giving it a polished & bright look. These days I am just using this on my face above my moisturiser with a blush & lip gloss. The shade doesn’t give any whitish cast or clash with my skin undertones for ashy look.
The formula I can say is very much like of a light textured tinted moisturiser. It gets spreads & soaked up into the skin effortlessly. I did traced very tiny shimmers barely visible but if you dig your eyes, can find them evenly scattered on the skin giving mild subtle glow. This gets settled down more as a matte finish but with a slight glow which doesn’t gives an illusion of complete matte effect on skin. This is quite hydrating on my skin but may not be an ideal product for oily skin & can make them greasy. It doesn’t offer any coverage on the skin but acts more as a corrector balancing the whole skin texture preparing it the makeup application. Not ideal for females with uneven skin tone & would be advisable to use them along with a foundation. Acts as a perfect primer and keeps your makeup intact for long duration.
It wears about 6-7 hours on my skin easily without getting patchy or cakey. Overall I find these a great summer product with lighter texture & good amount of SPF protection. But not a must have from MAC especially with a price tag of 1900 INR they don’t offer anything extra that a normal tinted moisturiser won’t do. The only benefit they carry is the slightly higher SPF protection.
- Light textured, easily workable formula.
- Doesn’t feel heavy on skin.
- Gives a polished look to the skin.
- Has an added advantage of SPF 35.
- Acts as a skin corrector & a good base primer.
- Don’t make skin look completely matte.
- No coverage on skin.
- I would have preferred a bit more Dewey glow rather than matte.
- Can make oily skin greasy.
- Nothing exceptional about the product if compared to a normal drugstore tinted moisturiser.
- Comes with a very heavy price tag (of course its MAC!)
I won’t recommend this as a must haves from MAC collection. The product doesn’t do anything exceptional that we can’t get from a regular tinted moisturiser except for slightly high SPF protection. In fact I find my Pond’s TM giving slightly better coverage than this one. Still if you are interested to spend some bucks for MAC Primer, can check this out!
