A soft-on pencil liner that lines, defines and shades the eyes with rich colour and a silky-smooth, matte/pearl finish. Ophthalmologist tested.
MAC smolder has been my only product for creating smokey eyes since the time I added it to my stash. Reason- Smudges like crazy on my waterline to be used as a kohl. I naturally have watery eyes & I have tried this setting with powder shadow too but it fails to perform on my waterline. So the only choice left with me was to use it on my lash line & lids. Once on lids & set with powder shadow this will stay on without any issues till EOD. I got this pencil sometime last year & my cousin too picked this up for me during her US visit. So after finishing my first one , I am onto my backup one now.
I have never regretted having this with me or burning a hole in my pocket on this because of the richest black colour it imparts to my eyes. Nothing can beat this baby in terms of colour pay off. This has been the benchmark for the deepest black in Kohl’s army & no other solider has given a tough competition to this one yet! It has got this amazing smooth texture which glides like breeze on eyes & gives the rich colour pay off with just one stroke. It smudges easily & hence very popular for creating smokey eyes.
The packaging is pretty much same as other pencil liners, wooden encased body with a cap. I won’t recommend it to females looking for a smudge free long stay kohl or kajal, its just not meant for that. MAC Smolder is all about smudge & look sexy! And yes MAC makes me say this in every review: “This comes with a price tag”.
In my EOTD I have used MAC Smolder on my waterline & smoked out on upper lash line.
- Easy to use sharp enable wooden pencil packaging.
- Super smooth texture.
- The DEEPEST BLACK ever! None can beat this.
- Smudgy nature allows creating perfect smoky eyes.
- Smudges badly on watery eyes giving racoon eyes.
- Hefty price tag.
MAC Smolder is most hyped kohl for its intense deepest jet black colour pay off while no other liner comes closer to this. It smudgy nature makes it very apt for creating soft or intense smokey eyes. The product is just not meant for watery eyes if looking out for a kohl but this is the best product to have with you if fond of smokey looks.

great review-I wanted to know about this for long-since I am a sucker for pitch black eye pencils. I believe-it will smudge a lot even if I try to make a smokey eye-resulting in Panda eyes instead
If you have oily lids probably yes but used with a primer will sort out the problem. It won’t budge if set with dry eyeshadow on top till you remove it Anu
Pretty black
but this is not showing up on ur waterline.
It never stays on my waterline Megha
Seems very pigmented on the swatches like real jet black
I used this prior to my Maybelline colossal kajal, which I am using now, I am on my 4th stick of it ….I prefer colossal one for the price and quality. Earlier I couldnot use anything other than smolder, coz rest all used to sting……nice review, grt for smokey eyes.
haven’t tried colossal yet but hve read raves about it.Smolder is Ophthalmologist tested so its completely safe
Nice review..however I’d stay away from it…don’t like very smudgy kohls…but I loved your EOTD!!
This is meant for smudging Kims………do check this out once
