When I say I like Benefit’s chic & funky packaging, Too Faced looks like elder brother or sister of Benefit as in stylish yet with a sense of matureness in the packaging. The exquisite sturdy & hard cardboard box assembling soft natural hues for that effortless gorgeous smokey eyes is what Too Faced’s Natural at Night palette all about. There’s absolutely nothing to complaint in the packaging. It’s compact, lightweight, sturdy & looks very appealing. Though it lacks applicator brush & mirror for touch ups which are very basics of a palette but compensated with the “how to” cards containing instructions for creating variety of looks. And then of course you are free to use your own artistic talent with this amazing palette. The applicator brush coming with the palettes is generally of no use so I really don’t mind of one being absent in this palette.
Like packaging, the shades also perform in every segment of eye makeup. They have buttery soft texture except for “Night Fever” & “Night Light” which are supposed to be glittery shades containing loads of glitter chunks making texture somewhat gritty but nothing that is hard to work with, just not smooth as other shades in the palette. So yes, the shades are very soft & easily blend able, highly pigmented & long wearing. There’s not any kind of dryness or chalkiness in texture & get easily loaded onto brush giving a rich colour pay off. I am not sure how these will flare on oily lids but they stay put day or night long on my dry lids. Using a primer further kicks the colour pay off as well as wear time. The various finishes of shades ranging from mattes to shimmery to glittery compiled together also make this palette very approachable. They just don’t leave your eyes looking very boring & matte but adds a glamorous oomph & drama with shimmers & glitters without going overboard. The fact that the palette contains all warm &soft neutral hues, keeps one in a comfort zone without making your eyes an attention catcher. So let’s take a look at the shades:
Full Moon: Shimmery/Glittery Gold.
Nightcap: Shimmery Tan.
Cocoa Star: Matte Deep Chocolate Brown.
Night Light: Pale Glittery Champagne Pink.
After Hours: Shimmery Taupe.
Eclipse: Shimmery Deep Earthy shade with slight reddish tones.
Spotlight: Highlighter shade. More yellow based than MAC Ricepaper which makes it feasible to be used on other parts such as cheekbones , cupid bow, forehead & bridge of nose for highlighting.
Moon Stone: Shimmery gold with strong olive tones.
Night Fever: Glittery Blackened Brown.
Of all the shades Night Light & Night Fever are glittery with slight grittiness & fall out. The fallout is not major making glitters travel all over the face but can be easily controlled with the use of a tissue paper or removal with a q-tip post application. I have almost all shades in my Urban Decay Naked Palette too but I find this palette handier & easy to carry compared to later. The shades can be used for everyday wear looks too & this is my daily wear palette to work. Shades are not overly bright or shiny & are quite soft on eyes. I prefer palettes compared single shades & this fits into my requirements perfectly.
After going ga ga over this, just a word for those who want some punch of colour on their lids or say some actual colour with bold statement eyes can skip this palette. For me this is my all-time companion without a single drawback. It gets expensive being not available in India & need to be ordered from outside adding up the shipping charges but worth every penny for me. I am eyeing their original Natural Eye Makeup Palette too.
Too Faced Natural at Night Eyeshadow palette is a blend of soft natural hues ranging from mattes-shimmers & glitters assembled in a uber stylish sturdy packaging delivering excellent performance. The shades complement each other very well but this palette is not for females who love some bright & bold colours with statement giving eyes. Gets steeper on pocket due to unavailability & added shipping charges if ordered from outside.
