Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Face & Body Sun Lotion comes in standard Biotique translucent plastic bottle with green cap. Now the packaging is not so travel convenient for which I prefer to transfer the contents into smaller travel size 10ml bottles I have. Previously I had used the Bio Carrot sun lotion from Biotique which I loved to the core.
Biotique sun lotions have naturally thicker consistency but the texture feels light & flowy which can fool you. The Aloe Vera sun lotion though spreads easily on skin , needs to be massaged a bit to get it into the skin. Though it is meant for normal to oily skin, leaves a subtle shine on my extremely dry skin. The reason I picked this up is because I use heavy duty body lotions in winters & wanted some lighter sun protection formula without overly suffocating my skin, but this proved to be equally heavier which turned my skin slightly greasy after few hours of wear. It behaves same on face also which might result in breakouts. My facial skin feels much choked with a layer of toner, rich moisturiser & then this heavy sun lotion followed by a BB cream. I tried mixing this with my moisturiser but then the higher densities of both mixed makes it difficult to blend smoothly into the skin. The most annoying part being the dull/darker look it gives to skin! The skin appears rather very dull & all slick in sun.
I am using this at home these days without any moisturiser/body lotion & it works fine that way. I don’t like to wear this outside because of the obvious dark look it imparts to skin. It has got a faint smell which doesn’t bother in anyway. I am not sure how much effective it is against sun as I stopped using this within few days outside. The only thing I liked about this is the nice cooling sensation it gives immediately after application which stays for few minutes. I had a fabulous experience with the Carrot Sun Lotion & this one tuned out quite disappointing for me. I would highly suggest Oilies to stay away from this.
- Light textured, highly moisturising.
- Gives a nice cooling sensation on skin.
- Well priced.
- Completely natural
- Packaging is inconvenient for travel.
- The lotion feels very heavy & slick on skin if not used alone. Skin feels suffocating.
- Gives a dull & dark look to skin.
- It is meant for Normal to Oily skin which means should have been lighter & matte post application but in actual it is totally opposite. It makes even a dry skin feel heavier at times.
- Takes time to get blended into skin.
It is light textured but quite heavier in consistency making it difficult to blend into skin. The lotion is heavier in itself & makes skin feel very heavy, greasy & slick if used along with other skin care products. It also gives a very dark appearance to skin. The recommended skin type is clearly misleading for the product & might work good in extreme winters for dry skin.
