The Ultimate Mousse Foundation is the latest launch from Colorbar for their version of ever growing popular light textured mousse foundations.
It comes in a light weight study transparent plastic tub with silver screw top lid. There’s one more plastic protector inside the lid to avoid any further chances of contamination. The transparency allows keeping a check on the amount of product usage. The tub comes housed in a high sheen silver cardboard packaging containing all the product details required. Overall I love the lightweight & easy to use packaging of the product which can be slipped into your handbag anywhere without being bulky.
Though the foundation is available in 3 shades but they look very natural on skin post application without any white cast or cakeyness. I have shade Frappuccino with me, which I got from Medplusbeauty without checking out the shades at counter. The Colorbar counters at Hyderabad are poorly stocked especially for newly introduced which makes it difficult to reach for the new launches easily. In fact,I haven’t seen those perfect pout lip glosses at the counters till date though luckily True Gloss Lip Glosses were available. The other two shades available in this range are Café Misto & Caramel Macchiato. I am not sure how much the three of them differ until I’ll check them at counters.
Frappuccino, when I initially opened the pack appeared a bit lighter for my skintone but it blends in extremely well into the skin without any patchiness or white cast which we get to see if gone for a wrong foundation shade. The texture feels like a light emollient cream while taking out from the tub but once on skin it mimics the properties of a typical lightweight mousse family range with an pretty average coverage. The texture lacks that spongy feel of a mousse which we get to see in mousse blushes & foundations but nevertheless it makes up for it once on skin without any compromises. It sinks into the skin very well pushing those lines & imperfections into the background giving a smooth & velvety matte finish. Some Mousse foundations tends to settle down into those lines making skin look very patchy & uneven but this one is class apart. It fills up the lines & reflects a flawless eventoned skin. The easy blendability allows you to get an accurate finish even with your fingertips if you don’t own a good foundation brush. Like mentioned before the coverage is pretty average & capable of hiding those lighter spots or marks but for slight intense pigmentation this won’t be sufficient.
While I like the texture, coverage & overall finish of the foundation, the formula doesn’t feel so comfortable on my extremely dry skin if used alone. Given the fact that it’s a matte finish foundation, works perfectly when applied over a heavily moisturised skin & along with some luminizing primer. I use it with my MAC strobe Cream & it doesn’t appear matte on my skin. It keeps the skin looking fresh, even toned, and flawless throughout the day. I don’t need any reapplications once I wear it in the morning & I could see myself picking it again when the temperatures are reaching a 40 *C in extreme summers for much needed oil & sweat control on facial skin. This would surely make a perfect light weight foundation for oilies.

- Might feel a bit comfortable on dry skin. Using with a good moisturising primer/luminizer is advised along with heavily moisturised skin.

I can see this becoming a popular product because of the so comfortable light texture, decent coverage; easy blend ability, flawless finish & long wearing formula. The limited shades may be a drawback but then the formula so well adapts to the skin leaving no space for any artificiality what so ever. Highly Recommended.
