Maxfactor Max Effect Gloss Cube comes in a clear, rectangular shaped plastic tube with a black screw off lid. The packaging of the gloss is quite elegant and classy. The lid has a soft doe foot applicator with a slight curvy shape. The shade name is written on the sticker which is stuck on one side of the tube. The tube is light and sleek and can be easily around in a small bag. The scent of the gloss is slightly weird but is not overpowering and won’t bother sensitive noses.
The formula of the lip gloss is slightly thick and has gel like consistency. The gloss is easy to apply and glides around the edges of the lips without smudging or bleeding. It applies smoothly and evenly across my lips. It doesn’t feel very sticky on my lips unlike few other lip glosses but my hair does get stuck to my lips when the breeze blows. It makes my lips look glossy and moisturized and I don’t feel the need to use a lip balm underneath. It doesn’t settle into fine lines of the lips.
The pigmentation of the lip gloss is quite sheer. It gives decent color by layering it 3-4 times on my lips. If you have heavily pigmented lips, then this is definitely not for you. The finish is glossy which looks pretty for both day and night time wear. It stays put on my lips for a good 4-5 hours with eating and drinking after that it starts fading evenly. The gloss feels quite comfortable and doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on my lips. Even when it is worn off, my lips feel moisturized and not dry at all.
Shade ‘Hot Aubergine’:
Hot Aubergine is a soft brown color with very fine shimmers. The shimmers are very subtle and hardly visible on the lips. The shade looks mauvish brown on my lips with a nice glossy finish. It would be suitable for day and night wear. It looks lovely either alone or over the top of your favorite brown lipstick. It instantly brightens up my face and would look flattering on all skin tones.
