o Powderless matte pigments ensure true vivid shades
I think the name is little misleading here as the texture & finish of these new lipsticks is not completely matte. They are definitely high on pigmentation giving a pop of bright & intense color with a single pass but then with a semi matte finish without going all the way unflattering on dry lips (kudos for that!). The formula is smooth, creamy sans being buttery, lightweight & glides smoothly without any tugs. They don’t get patchy as most of the extremely matte lips do on my dry lips. They do add a bit of moisture to lips which don’t flare till the wear time & I do need a lip balm or lip gloss topping going down the day. But it’s not as unforgiving as the matte ones. However, these do acquire that tendency to peek into those lip lines & highlights dry patches if not supported by a moisturizing medium on dry lips as the wear progresses. The high pigmentation dose packs a solid punch of bright shade which stays for an average of 5 hours further toning down to a deep stain.
I find the packaging really cute. It’s similar to regular colorsensational lipsticks range except that instead of colored caps these have matte red caps indicating to the range. I would have preferred names to the shades against numbers but then they have limited shades which don’t make the shade locating task much difficult.
MAT 1 is a mid-toned bright Fuchsia Pink. It looks scary deep coral pink in tube but comes out much wearable on lips. All the shades in the range leans towards the neonish side of the spectrum yet wearble. MAT 1 goes opaque with a single swipe on my moderately pigmented lips & wears for good 5 hours on me with slight drinks & munches before settling down into a bright pink stain. High Five to Maybelline for coming out with such wearable Matte formula for dry lips! Ok semi matte. If you are someone with dry lips longing to try a friendly matte, give these a go.
