Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeliner Trios are basically assortment of three customized complementing shades for an effortless natural looks. I picked up Nude Eyes from the collection which is a medley of:
NATURAL: A mid-toned champagne taupe with minuscule shimmers which is too light as a lid colour for me & darker to be used as a highlighter.
PLAYFUL: A deep greyish brown with fair amount of shimmers.
DRAMATIC: A deep charcoal black. Unlike its name, is not a jet black or stark black but quite subtle with fair amount of shimmers.
They have fairly soft & smooth texture which glides seamlessly without any tugs or pulls but then there’s a hint of slight dryness which moderates the outcome of true colour with a single pass. I do need a couple of swipes to get the desired intensity which otherwise is still much understated. The trio represents softer hues without compromising on the pigmentation but not going all the way stark or with a power punch of colour on lids. The shimmers do not interfere with the softer texture or get displaced post application. However some of the flecks do make their way out of lids during fading or removal or if disturbed with fingers or hands in between. The formula sets in pretty fast & one needs pretty fast hands to work on it which is easily workable. The fairly creamy texture smudges easily for creating different looks. Once set they do not smudge but because the formula is not completely waterproof, is easy to remove. The trio lasted for good 11- 12 hours on me (with slight layering + super dry lids) before starting to fade faintly from the edges contrary to the tall claim of 24 hours wear. Though on my waterline they don’t flare well as I have got extremely watery eyes. Also because of shimmers I don’t prefer to use these on my waterline, though they don’t sting or irritate me in anyway. The pigmentation is pretty good and is very much buildable. I like the fact that despite of heavier build up this trio don’t go all the way punchy on lids & retains that subdued quality very well. So if you looking for a soft subtle kind of natural eye makeup look, this one will be a good pick. Overall I like the shades but would have preferred a deeper taupe & a Bronze or copper given the fact that Playful & Dramatic comes out almost same on me (NC42). Natural, mostly I prefer to use as a base shade with some deeper tone layered above.
I am a big fan of Physicians Formula packaging with all the funky & chic looking which makes the products more interesting but this time they kept it pretty simple yet detailed. The trio comes housed in a beige cardboard box packaging with in-depth details. The packaging details infact gives a mini review of the entire trio! The eyeliners are in the form of sleek, retractable pencils with respective metallic coloured bodies. The tail of the pencils comes with attached sharpener which makes it easier for precise thinner lines. See more pics & swatches.
