|Gel cream textured foundation that blend perfectly to give an even and weightless skin like coverage
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Foundation comes in a sturdy black rectangular matte plastic bottle with a glossy black cap. The product is dispensed out through a tiny nozzle ensuring no product wastage. As the packaging is completely opaque, one cannot make out how much product is left. The most disappointing part of new Absolute Collection is the pricing which I guess is very hefty. Lakme was known for quality products in reasonable price tag but then for me it has already ventured into high end brands bandwagon. The foundation is available in 6 shades & I picked up the deepest shade 06 Almond Honey for my NC42 skintone.
It has got a thin creamy gel texture which is very aptly described by the brand. The consistency is light for quick and easy application but not flowy or liquidy to misbehave in anyway. The foundation has got a creamy texture with gel like softness blended together as a super light formula which applies seamlessly for a flawless impeccable skin! The best part about the formula is how easily it allows the skin to breathe despite of coverage build up. I am not much of a foundation person and prefer BB creams anyday for regular wear but this one is very easily wearable even on regular basis without suffocating your skin.
Like mentioned the formula applies smoothly & evenly with flawless blendability. Synthetic fibres are best for this as being thinner, natural fibres will drink up most of it causing product wastage. I use my TBS foundation brush for application & then buff with my Sigma F80 for more refined look. If you have extremely dry skin like mine make sure to moisturize your skin well or else it might not slip well for that smoother application. I think I have grown out of phase where I would judge a foundation for not applying smoothly or rather getting difficult to spread on my skin. I have had this problem even with most emollient foundation formulas when the skin is not properly moisturised. So when the basic skin requirements are taken care of well, the skin will rock even the most difficult of formulas (unless it comes across something really bad!).
It gives a moderate to full coverage. As I am not much of a foundation person (my skin is well behaved most of the year), I just need 4-5 tiny dabs of it to spread on the entire face. And because Lakme has given it enough pigments it gives a good coverage with little amount. The formula beautifully sinks into the skin feeling like second skin to give a satin matte finish. I couldn’t detect any shimmers or pigments in the formula. I do need a luminizing primer to get some dewiness here. It never gets cakey, patchy or heavy even with build up giving enough space for skin to breathe despite of the heavy coverage. I don’t need a concealer when I am using this as it masks my shadowy under eye area perfectly. For me it’s a concealer cum base rolled into one! And as the coverage is rich it will cover up those spots & pigmentation easily blanketing them well for a flawless even toned skin.
The foundation stay put on me for entire day without budging in any way (read 10 hours). My skin looked fresh even at the time of taking it off. I have been wearing this for more than a week and the formula didn’t get oxidized when I was out. And you do need a good oil based cleanser to take it off completely. The formula does not contain any SPF which means it photographs well with flash without any whitish cast.
Almond Honey is the deepest shade I picked up & it goes well with my strong yellow tones. It sinks so well into the skin giving it a natural refined lift. However going forward NC45 there’s nothing that shade range offers. It lacks the shade match for duskier beauties/ deeper tans.
- Sleek & elegant packaging.
- Smooth thin creamy gel texture.
- Light weight formula. Doesn’t get heavy or patchy even with build-up.
- Applies evenly & blends in extremely well sinking down completely to give a natural finish.
- Heavy coverage.
- Long wearing. Don’t budge till removed.
- Don’t oxidize.
- Matte finish.
- Feels like second skin despite of heavy coverage, giving enough space to skin to breathe.
- Photographs well.
- No shade matches for duskier complexions. (Going beyond NC45).
- The complete opaque packaging makes it difficult to know how much product is left.
The formula proves itself to every point that brand claims! Lack of SPF may be a disappointment for few but then that gives an advantage of getting photographed well. Pricing is certainly high & that’s where the range loses some brownie points.
