L’Oreal finally launched these Caresse Wet Shine Stains in India as Caresse Shine. Unfortunately the shades are different what I have spotted in USA few months back. I had previously reviewed shade CORAL TATTOO from the range which didn’t get launched in India! (Click on the link for detailed review of formula) And today I am going to review yet another stunning Neutral from the range which again unfortunately didn’t get launched here … it’s 193 Eternally Nude. Julliette looks extremely close to Coral Tattoo while Lolita a bit closer to Eternally Nude..(or may be they have launched shades with different names..not sure)
Eternally Nude is a gorgeous Peachy Brown classic n*de in the tube! However it gets transformed into a deep Orangey Stain on lips if layered considerably. I don’t layer it more than two swipes to avoid that deep stain.Though the shade is nicely pigmented, being subdued & sheerer holds slight translucency . But it does blanket my moderately pigmented lips well. I need two swipes at max to give a good solid wash of colour on my lips. It doesn’t feel heavy if layered heavily ! I like to wear this with medium intensity for a slight hue on lips without being too bland. Eternally Nude wears for 4-5 hours on me before starting to descend down. It does stain nicely but being a natural hue doesn’t look much awkward even after fading, provided the lips are well groomed or else the stain peeks into those fine line & highlight the dry patches.
PS: In lip swatches & FOTD I have weared it 4 swipes to show up the Orange tint! That is how it looks if built up heavily (Full Intensity) or else weared lightly / moderately it’s a pretty neutral shade. (Refer hand swatches)
The formula is quiet unforgiving on dry lips. Despite that it has got nice thin cushiony light non-sticky gel like texture which gives a nice sheen and feels hydrating post application, going down the wear time my lips craves for moisture. And the formula does highlight every minor flaw if lips are not properly exfoliated looking patchy & uneven during fading. One more thing I dislike is the fragrance…kind of wine but smells too artificial. Thankfully it doesn’t linger around post application.
In nutshell, I like the texture & pigmentation (which is buildable yet good enough to give a solid coverage effortlessly) but the formula feels quiet drying on my lips. I do follow a good lips grooming regime but then the hydration is something I cannot compromise on given my extremely dry lips. Toping with a moisturizing medium helps but then I prefer hydrating formulas comparatively and the reason why I didn’t picked up any shade when they got launched in India!
They come in a glossy gold tube packaging with a coloured rim of the respective shade making it easy to locate shades. The applicator is leaf shaped giving easy access for steady & fast application & contouring around the corners of the lips.
- Easy to locate & attractive packaging.
- Smooth light weight gel texture.
- No stickiness or gloopiness in the formula.
- Gives a healthy sheen to lips.
- Good wear time.
- The formula tends to dry lips in short span of time & a regular moisturization topping is required.
- No ample hydration as claimed by the brand.
- I am not fond of the understated wine fragrance much.
The formula won’t be appreciated much if you have uber dry lips like mine or need efforts to make it behave! Rest its light weight, non sticky, long wearing & nicely pigmented. The formula tends to lose way with the progress in wear time but little adjustments like a good moisturizing topping will take care.
