I have this sample tube of Lakme Sun Expert Lotion SPF50 which I got with my purchase of Vaseline body lotion at my regular drugstore. The actual product packaging is in the form a pump dispensing bottle. I got 15 ml sample tube with my purchase which lasted me easily more than a month with daily use! The sample tube has a long slender nozzle with tiny opening which takes out controlled quantity of product reducing the wastage. A fuss free user friendly packaging.
Before jumping onto review, a little about my skin:
I have got extremely dry skin which is super prone to tanning. I just can’t afford to skip sunprotection anyday! For body I always stick to my most trusted Neutrogena Sunblock but these days I am using again a medicated formulation by Ranbaxy called Suncros which is easily available across local pharmacies like Hetro or Medplus.
For face also I am very much comfortable with Neutrogena but I do use Lotus Safe Sun Collagen Shield Sunblock SPF 90 when I am not wearing any base makeup as it is slightly tinted & evens out the skin nicely. For face I usually apply sunscreen mixed with moisturizer. I don’t look for hydration factor here as my other skin care products leans towards emollient formulations which is basic requirement of my skin type.
Coming back to Lakme Sun Expert, it’s a pure white colored thick textured (not overly so!) cream. Though the texture is thick, it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on skin & wears quiet comfortably. It gives a subtle dewey finish which I like.I have been using this since more than a month and it did a great job where I didn’t experience any glaring skin tanning with this on. However the formula is not something my skin loved! In the first place it was really difficult to spread this on bare skin without moisturizer. The brand claims this to be an intensive moisturizing formula but on my dry skin it just refused to work out during application getting all patchy & balling up. And no ladies it didn’t provide any hydration to my skin. The only option left was to use it mixed with moisturizer which worked out where it gave me whitish cast! I had to blend in really really hard to get the whitish cast fade from my skin. I tried using this is very less quantity (read less than a dollop) with my moisturizer which worked out somewhat but then the quantity was not enough especially when I was supposed to be out for whole day. The only reason I stuck to it for a month was the finish , the light refreshing fragrance & yes it did barriered my skin well against tanning. The formula gave me really hard time and I won’t recommend this for Dry /Extremely Dry skin at all. We have better dry skin friendly formulas out in market with good SPF content! Finally when I have finished it , switched back to my Vichy Sun Protection Micro Fluid.
- Convenient to use travel friendly packaging.
- Light refreshing fragrance.
- Gives subtle dewey glow to skin.
- Barriers skin well against harmful sunrays.
- The formula just doesn’t work for my extremely dry skin. It’s difficult to spread out & blend!
- Give whitish cast & needs to put in hard efforts to blend well for taking away that whitish cast.
- No hydration factor here!
An Absolute NO! if you have extremely dry skin like mine. It don’t spread, gives whitish cast & not at all hydrating.
