|Feather-light finish easily blends into the skin keeping it healthy, hides pores & evens out skin tones. The new SPF 8 formula protects the skin from sun damage, leaving it peachy-soft & naturally flawless for up to 16 hours.
Lakme Absolute Mattreal Mousse comes in an attractive gunmetal hued round pot packaging which is an absolute treat to eyes. I was half sold by packaging here! The product inside is protected by an additional thin plastic plate protector. While the packaging is super chic & cute, not the most user friendly. No one likes to dig in fingers to scoop the product out & with regular use the product settles down in the rim & groove of the packaging making it messy & untidy. Nevertheless, I like how cute it looks, perhaps the cutest one in the whole Absolute range!
The Matteral Mousse is available in three shades: Ivory Fair (Lightest), Beige Honey (Medium) & Golden Medium (Darkest). Unfortunately the shade range is very limited and duskier/deeper tans won’t find a match here! Thankfully the shades have enough yellow tones to them to fit in for the average warm Indian complexions and they will adapt quiet well in most cases.
This base makeup don’t disappoint anywhere formula & performance wise too! It has got a soft-silky & super light whipped mousse texture which blends like a dream. A few feather light strokes with the finger tips & the mousse melts into skin mimicking the skins texture. The texture has got a nice slip to it indicating the presence of silicones to fill in those pores & wrinkles for impeccable finish. It feels light & so breathable! I love the fact that whole absolute range offers light base makeup formulas without compromising on the coverage & wear power.
It provides light- medium coverage but does blurs out those pores, fine less & other flaws outstandingly. It doesn’t provide that heavy duty coverage but evens out the skin beautifully making it look flawless in all natural way. The finish is matte with slight satiny touch to it, making it easier even for dry skin to carry this well. One thing to point out is that, this is not sufficiently moisturising for dry skin & would definitely require a moisturizer underneath. Though I didn’t face any problems for application on bare skin where it spread & blended seamlessly (thanks to liberal silicones dose!)but highlights dry areas & looks cakey in couple of hours. It gives a nice refreshed & blooming skin. I managed to test this for 12 hours. At 12th hour it showed considerable fading and my skin was not as fresh as it looked in the morning. It was very much intact till 8-9 hours after which it started to fade. I am still very much happy with the wear power despite of the tall 16 hours wear claim by the brand. Lastly it has got this citrus fragrance which doesn’t bother me much but can be troublesome for sensitive noses!
In a nutshell, it’s an impressive base makeup with skin friendly texture (provided you are not allergic to silicones), natural looking light-medium coverage giving a flawless radiant skin. Highly recommended.
- Chic & attractive packaging.
- Super light, silky soft texture.
- Blends in flawlessly.
- Light to medium coverage.
- Blurs out imperfections for a refreshed & glowing skin.
- Doesn’t go all the way matte, easy to carry for dry skin.
- Long wearing.
- Not the most convenient to use packaging which gets messy with regular usage.
- Limited shade range.
- Does not stand up to tall 16 hours wear claim. (Not a con for me though! But then that’s what brand claimed)
- Can get cakey on dry skin if not properly moisturised.
- Pricey! Lakme has been hiking prices like crazy..it was 550 INR when launched and have now gone upto 700 INR.
It’s a mediocre coverage formula with super easy texture giving a fresh & glowy skin in most natural way! The formula blurs out imperfections like pores & fine lines giving a smoother skin due to silicones. Avoid if you are allergic to silicones. Dry skin surely needs that moisturization dose or else can prove to be a disaster.
