This is my second quad from Lakme after Desert Rose which I adore dearly. Silk Route has an unusual compilation of shades (according to me!). Where I find most of the quads have coordinating shades, this doesn’t categorize for the same and I find it difficult to work all the colours together here. What made me buy this quad is the darkest shade- a deep charcoal grey which I liked a lot.
The quartet comes as a sleek square case with transparent lid for easy identification accompanied with a good quality dual sided sponge tip applicator. A standard Lakme quad packaging lacking a mirror! The packaging feel sturdy & not something flimsy or below average kind of.
SILK ROUTE contains assortment of:
- A Shimmery Pale Pink
- A Mid toned Bronzy Brown
- A Bright Magenta &
- A Deep Charcoal Grey.
All the shades have fair amount of shimmer with a metallic finish. They have fairly smooth & soft texture with nice pigmentation except for the first shade-Pale Pink. It was considerably powdery in texture with some serious lack of pigmentation and was difficult to pick up/ build up. And not to forget it gave good amount of fall out too when tried to build up. The shade barely shows up on my moderately pigmented lids. It didn’t work out even with a sponge tip applicators which otherwise results for a denser colour concentration. For rest of the three shades they perform nicely for the price. The pigmentation is buildable here & over a primer the shades hang on better & longer. Without a primer I get an average 5 hour of wear with these without any creasing. With primer they stay put up well for 7-8 hours on my dry lids. They blend fairly well without any significant fall out (for rest of the three shades). However I am not a big fan of bright vibrant shades like the Magenta from the quad. So technically I get to use only two shades – the Bronzy Brown & the Charcoal Grey which I don’t find a good deal here for the money I pay.
Also If I compare this to my previous quad from Lakme (Desert Rose), this lacks behind for that awesome pigmentation, texture, bendability & of course in performance consistency. Overall I find this quad very average performing for the price & also looking at my previous experience it’s little bit disappointing.
- Sleek, sturdy & easy to locate packaging.
- Good quality dual sided sponge tip applicator.
- Smooth & soft texture.
- Nice buildable pigmentation.
- Applies & blends fairly well.
- Good wear power with a primer.
- The shades wear average without primer.
- The Pink shade doesn’t work for my skintone. Also it has got poor texture & pigmentation with considerable fall out.
- Packaging lacks mirror.
- The colours do not coordinate with each other well! (And that kills the purpose of buying an assorted quad).
An average inconsistent performing quad. I didn’t see the shades coordinating well also one shade being complete bummer adds up to disappointment.
