NYX HD Studio Photogenic Blush packaging reminds me of Smashbox Halo Long Wear Blushes. Both works on twist & grind mechanism. While packaging is quite interesting with the concept of fresh product batch every use, not the most convenient & user friendly. The HD blush comes in a black round jar with an inbuilt mirror and an interesting mechanical twist & grind mechanism. You need to twist the inside pan & the blush is pushed out through small perforations at the surface. The grinder is sealed with a sticker in brand new product. The grinder pushes out more than required amount with a slight twist which creates heavy mess around. The powder settles all around the jar & in the grooves around. When you swirl the brush excess of product gets loaded causing the wastage. The best way to avoid this is to preserve the sticker that comes with the packaging covering the grinder to avoid every time messed up packaging. You can reseal the grinder after every use to avoid any loose stuff around afterwards. While I absolutely love everything with this product, packaging is surely a bummer.
Formula wise these are a breeze with velvety soft finely milled texture, rich pigmentation & excellent longing power. They blend in seamlessly giving a nice satin finish. There’s no hint of any shimmers in the formula yet retains slight luminosity on the skin without going intently matte giving a nice satin finish as they are mineral enriched blush.
APRICOT is described as Plum-Pink by the brand & it replicates exactly same on my NC42 skintone. I find the shade name misleading here as Apricots are mostly peach-coral tones but this one is nowhere close. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful shade for wide spectrum of skintones. A single swipe gives a substantial wash of colour on cheeks. Apricot wore for good 9 hours before showing obvious fading. As for the camera friendly HD claims, I couldn’t figure out any major difference compared regular range of blushes.
- The blush is finely milled for a smooth & silky soft texture.
- Blends in effortlessly.
- Gives a luminous satin finish.
- Highly pigmented
- Long wearing.
- A beautiful Plum-Pink singing across complexions.
- The packaging is slightly inconvenient to use where it tends to push out more than the required product causing wastage & creating lot of mess around.
I would highly recommend these blushes with some beautiful shades in the range and so fool proof formula! The packaging is certainly not the most user friendly here causing product wastage & mess around which is slightly disappointing. Apricot is a gorgeous Plum-Pink shades which will suit wide spectrum of skintones.
