I am a hoarder of brown liners as I find them more easy to go than blacks. I like deeper browns which almost borders black but are slightly forgiving than actual blacks (if that make sense!). Today I will be reviewing a stunning deep brown which I can’t get enough of.. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil in Black Chocolate which released as a part of her Surf & Sand collection.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eyeliner pencils comes as a plastic glossy black bodied sharpenable pencils with a colored end for easy shade identification. Each pencil comes with a complimentary sharpener & a thumbs up for that. Bobbi brown claims the formula as Gel Liner molded into pencil form which I can understand after using it! It has got a really soft & creamy texture without being crumbly which glides on lids smoothly without any tugs or pulls. The texture surpass the slight pressure during the application but I have had two instances where the tip broke off while applying. So be cautious and a gentle pressure is enough for a good color pay off (Remember its a gel formula molded into pencil form!). They can be easily smudged for creating various looks but then do settle faster so one has to be really quick in working out with them. The pigmentation is excellent& packs true color with a single swipe. I have never gone back for a second swipe with Black Chocolate! And they excel equally well in wear department too though the claim of 12 hours wear looks slightly exaggerated. The formula flares equally well on my uber sensitive & watery waterline. They are completely safe for waterline & tight lining and do not cause any stings or irritation. I never experienced any budging or smudging and I like to take full advantage of my dry lids for that matter. The price tag is definitely steep & you do equally good formulations with many drugstore brands but what I am looking at is the shade range where Bobbi brown has some fabulous deeper shades which I prefer any day over brighter ones. For me, I would love to own all the shades from the collection!
BLACK CHOCOLATE is describes as a Dark Chocolate by brand & I find it quiet apt. It’s a rich deep chocolate brown almost bordering black. It makes up for a great Lid, waterline & tightline shade replacing black in a much softer way. Black Chocolate gives true rich color pay off with a single glide & wears for good 9-10 hours on me after which I could see some slight fading. It did stayed on my lids till 12 hours but with considerable fading (say more than half!).On waterline it wears for good 4-4.5 hours for me which is excellent looking at my watery eyes. I would highly recommend this shade if you love to go s ofter on eyes for daily basis or not a big fan of jet blacks.
- Rich looking convenient to use packaging inclusive of a sharpener.
- Smooth silky & creamy texture ( a gel formula replicated as pencil form).
- Glides smoothly without any tugs or pulls.
- Richly pigmented.
- Long wearing. Stays well on my watery waterline for commendable time.
- Doesn’t sting or irritate.
- Product wastage during sharpening especially for the steep price tag! (not really a con for me as it’s the case with every creamy formula!).
It’s a rich deep chocolate brown bordering black which will appeal to females shying away from stark blacks! The formula is fabulous as claimed by brand the magic of a gel liner rolled up in a pencil form & things can never get easier ! Highly recommended!
