NYX Slim Lip Pencils come in hugeeeeee array of shades & probably one of the best picks if you are on look out for a budget makeup option. I am not a huge fan of lip liners given that I have extremely dry & flaky lips where these tends to exaggerate the issue! I make sure to prep my lips properly if I decide to go for one on a particular day & top it up with a moisturizing medium. My first stint was with Faces lip liners for which I was ok with then but now i know that I can’t stand them at all after trying out Colorbar & Lakme ones.
NYX Slim Lip Pencils comes as sharp enable wooden pencils with a glossy black body /cap & a coloured tail for easy shade location. They have fairly smooth texture but I do love to warm them up a bit by rubbing on back of my hand before applying to resist any tugs or pulls. In this way they go on quiet well on my lips. I find them very close to Colorbars new lip pencils but they are not as comfortable as Lakme 9 to 5 ones. The pigmentation is good & I get good coverage with a maximum of two swipes on the lips. On average I get a 4 hours of wear with these topped with a clear gloss and when worn under a lipstick they stay quiet well beyond that. The formula is not so forgiving for my dry lips & hence a hydration medium is a must or else makes my lips look super dry, flaky & parched. Lakme ones are hands down the best formula I have ever tried so far but looking at the shade range & the price I won’t complain much here. They do behave decently on well prepped lips.
I have three shades from the range: (I picked all neutrals!)
ROSE (840) : It’s a warm toned universally flattering Rosy Pink which makes a great base for Pinks & Pink/Peach toned neutrals.
PEEKABOO NEUTRAL (860) : Like the name says, it falls under neutral category. A gorgeous Peachy Pink. The shade might not shoe up that well on deeper complexions but is a flattering neutral for pale-medium skintones.
NUDE PINK (858) : Again a great everyday wear neutral with pink tones.
NYX Slim Lip Pencil ROSE:
NYX Slim Lip Pencil PEEKABOO NEUTRAL:
NYX Slim Lip Pencil NUDE PINK:
- Easy to locate convenient packaging.
- Fairly smooth texture.
- Nicely pigmented.
- Good wear power.
- Well priced.
- Huge shade range.
- They are not very forgiving on dry lips & need a bit of effort to make them work. Won’t recommend them to wear alone!
Would highly recommend them for the wide shade range with an economical pricing. But as far as formula is concerned not the one for dry lips. One needs to top them up with a good hydrating gloss or lipstick to behave well or else would end up with not so pretty looking lips!
*Sorry for missing FOTDS! I am having slight lips infection .
